One day, Brian was training for IRONMAN races and the next he was diagnosed with Stage IV Lymphocyte Deficient Hodgkin Lymphoma.
When Brian was first diagnosed his father – Dr. Richard Kozera, a renowned physician and executive associate dean at Temple's School of Medicine at the time – reached out to one of the best: his colleague Dr. Richard Fisher. That connection and the plan for treatment that followed would end up saving Brian's life. Round after round of intense chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant later, Brian was in remission.
As he recovered in the hospital, he wasted no time, committing to racing the IRONMAN Austria with his friend Jon. Just over a year later, with his wife and three daughters by his side, Brian heard the words, "You are an IRONMAN." His mantra of "Persevere and Prevail" had come true.
